Social networking, the future of education? Empty Social networking, the future of education?

I touched on online school last week, but do you suspect that 'classrooms and chalkboards' will someday deemed old fashion and obsolete, and that our educational structure will eventually move online; handled through things like social networking sites?

I'm sure it will be online in some form. My grandson was home-schooled and had a satellite hookup for his classes.

There will still need to be adult to supervise the kids but could be regional, like a classroom in a library with online hookup.

I have already had one of my stepson's teachers say that handwriting is becoming obsolete since everything is typed and that it will eventually no longer be taught. WTF?

The abacus is obsolete. It could be, but I don't think it will.

Just because a lot of young stupid people are willing to give up on it doesn't mean though that we should steer straight into that skid.

I suspect that even with traditional classroom settings for college, less seat time in the classroom will become the norm, with some content only available online.
