Have you ever been part of a book club? If not, would you consider joining one?

I don't like when reading becomes a chore. Plus my schedule has been too unpredictable to allow me the ability to just say I can meet on whatever night to discuss the book.

I never have, and I don't know that I'd want to join one, I guess it would depend on what was being read.

I belong to Doubleday book club I think. They were sending me snail mailings every 2 weeks and you have to mail back that card saying you don't want the selection of the month. I got sick of this so finally I called them and told them to stop sending me mailings every 2 weeks and they said would I prefer to get my mailings by e-mail instead which I agreed. 2 times I didn't get their online book of the month suggestions and 2 times they sent me the selection of the month without me ordering. I called them again and told them to cancel my membership. It was then they told me I could have mailings every month and I don't have to do anything unless I want to purchase. Why didn't they tell me this from the beginning?

I never order from them, by the time you pay shipping handling and tax its not worth buying the book from them.
I do all my book ordering on Amazon.com

I'm too free flowing with my reading to be part of any organized book club with assigned reading. That would seem too much like school assignment.

This kind of book club is what I thought Chris meant but I forgot about the kind that you buy from that other's are talking about. No for that too.
