Re: When washing your clothes.
I always do hot. Most of my clothes are cotton and I have very oily skin. Need to get the oil out of the fiber and hot water does that.

On whites I use hot/cold rinse, on colors I use warm/cold rinse or cold/cold rinse depending what it is, on sheets and towels I use warm/cold rinse.

I have like 5 different detergents including the one for dark clothes. I have that tide detergent booster that comes in what looks like a large capsule.

I use cold for my colors, and hot for whites. I never do warm.

It's actually better to use cold water for your laundry anyway.

Cold gets the stains out better. Hot does shrink certain fabrics.

Re: When washing your clothes.
The only time I use hot is on non clothing items. Like if I need to wash some dish cloths, or something extra. On clothes, I set it to cold 90% of the time.
