| I'd tell them how sorry I was for their loss but that I followed their instructions to the letter and it just must have been the fish's time. And if it happened more than a day before their return I'd tell them that the funeral service in the bathroom was lovely. | |

| There's nothing wrong with admitting the goldfish died. I've read that they can live for several years but I've got to say, I sure never knew anybody who had any that lasted more than a couple. | |

I know. Such moral answers. LOL If it was a basic enough looking goldfish that it COULD be switched with another, then I'd probably consider it if this fish was just THAT beloved by this friend. In the end though, I would still replace the fish, but would come clean about what happened. | |
