Hollywood has made tons of heist movies. In this case one that has gone astray. Looming over the heist is a double-cross and revenge. But what makes this film so enjoyable is the energetic approach it takes, along with a unruffled emotionally distant character. Of course, these type of films require a femme (Carey Mulligan) and mob boss (Albert Brooks). But the film belongs to Gosling, who will or should receive an Oscar nomination. Imposing LA set pieces, car chases and tension tone style.
