What do you think about mandatory paternity tests of newborns before a father is listed on the birth certificate?

I think that's a good idea, except in California where they really don't care who the real dad is; they just want someone to pay.

For married couples, no. Clearly I'm aware that infidelity exists, but that's their business. Everyone else should get swabbed.
Then again, that would put Maury out of business. So no to mandatory paternity tests. Gotta have my Maury.

As sensible as the proposal sounds, I think it's overstepping bounds. Who the child's natural father is is something that the couple needs to know, or instigate figuring out themselves.

It is quite possible that the woman was inseminated by a man other than her husband with his knowledge and that they plan to raise the child as their biological without everyone knowing about it.
I was adopted by my stepfather and CA changed the birth certificate indicating that he was my biological father, so what is the big concern about proving paternity? He didn't even know my mother when I was born. What if it was a Demi/Ashton thing. I could have been very near the age of my father by that birth certificate.

Unless the man has his doubts, I say no.
