The collision portion of your policy is often based on how congested your town/county is. A more populated county will have higher rates than the next one over because your chances of getting hit are higher.
My bro was paying almost $4000 a yr for liability... when he turned 26 it dropped to $1500 a yr for full coverage!!!! If u are not married, or under 25 they think you are irresponsible, thus increase your rates. Also... NOW they check credit ratings... supposedly if you have good credit you are more likely to pay your insurance and be a better driver. Funny that when my credit sucked, the only bills i DID pay were mortgage, car, and car insurance! lol
If you have Geico, go online to their website, there is a online defensive driving course you can take that is $20. It will take a few hours to complete (at your own pace, sign out/on at whim) but it reduced my rates by $100 a year. I think it is good for 5 years.
