Tonight was the first night of the library's yearly book sale and I went down hoping I wouldn't spend as much as last year ($100 in two days) and I sure didn't, only $35 this year, but boy the selections were a lot smaller this year. Usually they have I think a dozen tables jam packed full of books, this year only half as many and even then they couldn't fill them all up.
But I did find some good stuff: book 5 in Anne Rice's vampire series, Memnoch the Devil, just what I've been looking for, also two books of more recent Sherlock Holmes stories continued by several writers including I guess one of Arthur Conan Doyle's grandchildren, a Columbo book in which he investigates the Helter Skelter killings, The Hiding Place and In My Father's House by Corrie ten Boom, Mary Poppins, a biography on Amelia Earhart, another on Jack Benny, a couple on the history of the Indians, Cokie Roberts' Ladies of Liberty, The Wisdom of Eleanor Roosevelt, and a lot of other stuff. Overall it wasn't a bad haul but I was surprised because I don't think they've had such a poor inventory as this in several years.
