This is a very good movie, a very creepy movie, and I'm sure everybody's heard the story of how Elizabeth Montgomery was actually related to Lizzie Borden so was therefore portraying her own cousin in this. And it did offer an interesting idea as to how she could've killed both her parents and not had a spot of blood on her clothes.

I watched this movie back then! I didn't realize Elizabeth was a descendant.
It was good, had good theories. Liked the ending.
What I do remember is that Elizabeth refused to gain some weight for the role, since Lizzie was heavy.

I thought about that too, I thought Lizzie was, well not fat like her stepmother but heavy, and then, I started thinking about how women dressed back then and wondered was she really that much bigger or was it all those wide hoops and bustles and whatever that they wore back then?

Good question. I looked online and saw one photo (which wouldn't cut 'n' paste onto here) that suggested she was a bit heavy (though not necessarily by today's standards). Her arms appear a little "thick" and she has a double-chin; however, she's obviously wearing a tight corset (and looking rather uncomfortable). So it can be hard to tell by the way they dressed.

Yeah, because I also saw a picture of Abbey and yes 200 pounds for a woman in that time, I guess that would be considered fat and the first time I saw it I thought she was VERY fat then I saw the picture again and realized part of it was the way her dress was built, how the skirt fitted and all that stuff as well.

200 pounds for a woman back then was probably considered very attractive to most men.

Maybe, but it just shows how far we've gone to the other side of that spectrum.

Exactly, I wonder if Fashion had something to do with that?
