I think it is so rare, but we have had that happen a couple of times. I think sometimes you meet a family that is so familiar in values that it just clicks.

I don't know if it's what you mean, Red but I've met people that I liked right away but we didn't necessarily form a close bond and start to spend time together.

Same here, and we have spent no time together IRL since it is a 'cyberfriend' who lived in Wales. But we have been connected since I met him on MySpace in 2008 (we have both since moved to Facebook). We e-mail each other and I have followed him thru near death heart surgery (He's only mid 20s) to his work with the UN in Darfur, to his adopting an orphan there and now his imminent marriage to another young man. I feel like we are family.

That would be so cool if you could attend the ceremony.

I had thot of that. He is having a couple of ceremonies in Europe - one in Wales but another perhaps in Portugal. (all of EU has to acknowledge same-gender marriage now).

Srsly, tho he is all over the place and now spends more time in the Middle East than in Sunless UK.

In 2009 when he nearly died of heart surgery, his sister came onto his MySpace account and gave us updates on his condition. A lot of us in cyberspace were really concerned (He's a really nice guy)

On this subject, I asked myself why was I so concerned about someone I only knew in this realm. Wrote a verse about it:

CyberFriend
From Shale to Tony

Why would I cry
Over someone I've never met?
I haven't touched or hugged
Or kissed him,
Have never heard his voice.

All I know of him
Are images on a screen,
Words printed on my monitor
Show glimpses of his life.

A friend in Cyberspace
Electron connected
Across the Earth but,
Connected nonetheless
To my Mind and to my Heart.

Thru the love of his image,
I met him.
Thru the wisdom of his words,
I love him.

"Seduce my mind
And you can have my body,
Find my Soul
And I am yours forever."

Our bodies are decades apart
My old age is drawn to his youth
But I love his Soul,
And Souls are forever young.

We are kindred spirits,
In Cyberspace connected,
When he has joy - I laugh
When he hurts - I cry
