She started out as a backup singer for Luther Vandross and The Rolling Stones. Luther pushed her to record a solo album, she scored that hit and even won a Grammy for it. But rumor has it that she was never comfortable being in the spotlight and opted to go back to being a backup singer.
Yeah, Lisa Fischer was tight. She should have had the career that Toni had in the 1990s.

* Used to despise this clown, but this is one of the few songs he made that I was able to ignore that it was him singing. Reminds me of when I was about to start college (the first time.)

Intro's "Ribbon In the Sky" is on point. Like their cover equally as well as I do Stevie's original, perhaps more.

I LOVE their version way better than Stevie's. Know what....Stevie is cool but it seems to me that everyone who covers his songs does a better job of it than he does. I like Donnell Jones "Knocks Me Off My Feet" better than the original, J5's "I Don't Know Why I Love You" better than the original and I love Jodeci's "Lately" better than his too. In fact, I think they did the best cover anyone could do on any song. Totally destroyed Stevie's version.

Stevie songs are almost like the National Anthem, in that when people get up to sing them they want to 'show out' with it. Donell's version of "Knocks Me Off My Feet" is superior to Stevie's, I agree. The track itself is better and further compliments Donell's voice. I remember Tevin Campbell covered the song at the same time, and some reviewers said that his was better than Donell's, but I totally disagree.

Dr. Dre's ex woman. I thought she was cool, I remember when she got caught up in that beef with Dre and Eazy E. And it amazed me how her singing and speaking voice were totally different.

I had her tape in middle school, she was like a more "care bears" pre-cursor to MJB. Even with her big voice, her whole shtick still came off very much like "I'm somebody's girlfriend". Not to be crass but I'm guessing Michel'le got passed around that Ruthless crew like a blunt.
