I think so too. And very faithful to the novel. Might have been more chilling if they hadn't cut the "spider walk" scene.

Re: The Exorcist (1973)
I have a drawing of William Peter Blatty on my wall that I made when the movie came out. He's lying on the bed with an ouija board next to him, and it's one of my best pieces of work.
The movie didn't frighten me as much as it did most people but I still thought it was a good movie.

I'm a grown ass woman and will not watch that movie by myself. I'd say it's a classic.

Re: The Exorcist (1973)
It was alright, I saw it once when I was 14 and I ain't seen it since. I guess I went into it with too high expectations but I thought it was really going to be scary. This guy on Vh1's I Love the 70s said he thought he was going to hell after seeing that movie and as an early teenager I was very...I guess you'd say paranoid, about stuff like that, like I would believe that, that you'd go to hell for doing this or that depending on what it was, and yet I never had that feeling during the movie. Though something I thought, the picture on the cover is that black and white, the Exorcist comes to the house...I wonder what the movie would've looked like in black and white? Granted I know the 70s was a little long in the cinematic tooth to do that but...I don't know, wonder if it would've been different like that, like Psycho.

Re: The Exorcist (1973)
Always thought those "hell warnings" were funny. The baptist church I was dragged to as a kid gave those out too.
The movie freaked some people out a lot. A few had to be carried out of the theater.
