What would you hope the thief didn't take?

Re: If your home were burglarized
This is a great fear of mine. And I certainly hope that certain files, photos and negatives/cds are left behind. There are pieces of family jewelry, too (although those are well-hidden).

Re: If your home were burglarized
Our lives. We're insured for everything else and I think they'd be more interested in the TVs than our photo albums. Fire would be another matter. About all our important papers are in a safe deposit box at the bank but we wouldn't be able to replace our wedding album and our daughter's baby pictures.

Re: If your home were burglarized
The last time my home was burglarized the asshole got my SLR 35mm camera.
Everything can be replaced except those personal Items, like foto albums and documents/letters. When I leave my apt for any length of time I disconnect my external hard drive and hide it. My old Dell tower with XP might get stolen, but sort of a low target any more.
I have mine and my wife's wedding bands on a chain over a foto of us. I guess that would be a target with the escalating price of gold now (cost us $80 for the two of them in '83). That is a personal thing I would hate to see stolen but to bury it away also destroys its value to me. So, hope any burglar doesn't notice.

That. There are several personal items that have special meaning to me, but don't have much monetary value, that I would hope they'd ignore. Beyond that, maybe my computers, televisions, video collection and a couple of wall paintings; but I'm insured so everything would be replaced sooner or later.

I have a few pieces of family jewelry that people have advised me to put away in a safety deposit box; thing is, once I put it in there I would never wear them. A typical thief who quickly scoops all the jewelry he sees will not find the hiding spot for those pieces.
But an organized theft ring will, the ones who take the time to completely clean out a house. This does happen.

Re: If your home were burglarized
My home has already been burglarized before. As long as they leave my life, they can have everything else.

Mom's wedding rings. And they are well hidden, so hopefully they are safe.
