To rip them a new A-hole and promise to never use their product again even if they paid me? I know I have but it's been a while so I can't recall exactly to whom or why. The last time I contacted a manufacturer in a negative way was Sabra hummus to let them know there was a problem with the lids staying on. They responded cordially and sent a coupon for a freebie. Maybe it's just coincidence but the lids have stayed on better since then

The only time that came close to that I can think of was really more frustration than anger. I'd ordered a movie from an online company who is NOT named Amazon. They sent me a movie that someone said was basically the Mexican "I Spit on Your Grave". The first time it was amusing. But when replacing it they sent it again. And again. And again. I always try to remember that the person answering the phone or reading the email is not the one responsible. But the email pretty much started off "For the love of god & all that is pure & good, what the hell do I have to do to get the movie I ordered?" I imagine it got printed out & put on the bulletin board but I was very unhappy with the way things went for probably a month before they finally got it right.

Oh Yes - Many times.
I have a binder of my correspondences going back to 1982 when I bitched at CBS for cancelling Lou Grant (It was felt by many that the show opened up uncomfortable political issues that mainstream America could not countenance. Also, its actors were involved in many such causes) CBS sent me a form letter about how they do not involve themselves in the religious, philosophical or political beliefs of its actors yada, yada, yada. I also wrote to Ed Asner and he sent me a personal reply of thanks for the support.
I also got pissed and let CBS know when the local chanel pre-empted the last 5 minutes of Cold Case in Apr 2004 to report on some brush fires. WTF - the LAST FIVE MINUTES OF A MURDER MYSTERY WHERE THE KILLER IS BEING REVEALED???. That letter along with hundreds of others made a news article the next day, with an apology for the mistake and a synopsis of the show.
But the suits making too much money at CBS to care about ppl who watch their TV, did it again in Nov 2004 when they broke into the last five minutes of CSI:NY to tell us that the asshole Arafat had died. WTF - the regular news was five minutes away. Another hollow apology and promise never to do it again from CBS (and a letter to the editor from me ragging on the incompetents at CBS that was printed in The Miami Herald) Oh, CBS did fire the producer who made that call.
I have used Kirk's Castile Soap for decades - because it has no perfume smell and it is made from coconut oil instead of animal fat. For a while my Kirk's had a smoky smell and I wrote to the company in NJ complaining about it, sending the wrapper. They informed me that there was a warehouse fire in Florida and thanked me for alerting them to it. They sent me about a half-year supply of soap.
I am one of many who wrote to Campbell Soup Co. & CBS Sports complaining about their spokesperson and wanna-be CBS sportscaster Reggie White who was a vocal anti-gay bigot. In my March 1998 letters I told them he left a bad taste in my mouth that I associated with their soup and reminded CBS about "Jimmy, The Greek." Reggie lost his gig with Campbell and CBS dropped any consideration of letting that mouthy bigot on the air.
Oh, I also wrote to GLAAD complaining when they were seeing homophobia in a Nut 'N Honey commercial. They were getting as fanatical as PETA at one time. They seemed to have toned down in recent years.
There were many more, So yeah, I let companies know when they piss me off.

Yep. Sent one to Delta airlines. Called them numerous times too. Missed my connecting flight because they wouldn't let me on the plane and the plane that I was coming off of was late. The fucking terminal was allllll the way on the other fucking side of the fucking airport and I had to take the air train and literally run to the gate. I got there about 10 mins before they took off but they still wouldn't let me on. And I had to wait on the standby for another flight. I was really pissed because I had a funeral to go to. Granted it wasn't until the next day but I milked that shit told them that they made me miss the funeral. They gave me a voucher for a free flight.

I've sent many emails due to continued bad customer service at various places, or products I wasn't happy with. I think it's important to let your opinions be heard so they stay on top of their game.
It's gotten me lots of money in freebies.

My son laughs at me because I always say I am going to "send a letter" when I get mad, but then I rarely do.
The last one I sent got no response. I wrote to the mall and to Mastercuts because at this small mall by my house, the Mastercut hair dressers stand right outside the mall main entry smoking. It blows my mind that they are allowed to do that.

I once sent a snail-mail letter of complaint to the medical association regarding the Nurse Practioner that did something totally unacceptable to me. It was quite a letter but I never heard back from anybody.
Our community of friends who attend the local blues festival every year have had undeserved issues with the events managers bordering on harassment. Many complaints were made, and a few people wrote letters. By MY letter was the only one that merited a response, and it made a difference. I'm proud of that one.

I love sending angry letters! If you do it the right way you'll most likely make a difference.
A tow truck company damaged my car earlier this year, significant enough that it was inoperable until repaired. After many phone calls and messages went unanswered and a trip to the shop ended in the owner trying to treat me as another dumb chick (what a surprise), I wrote a 4 page letter detailing not only the chronological events since the incident, but every receipt from every car repair shop I went to BEFORE the incident with no mention of the damage. I asked them if they would be willing to fight all this evidence pointing to THEM in court...
...not only did they pay for repairs, I hustled extra out of them and made them think they were getting off easy because they thought I was a lawyer in disguise! LOL
