Re: What's your favorite film genre?
If we're being honest then porn. Watch it more than anything else listed here.
After that comedy, then action, then horror, then drama, etc etc.
Westerns put me to sleep

Re: What's your favorite film genre?
Lordy Lordy, how do you pick?
On one hand I like mysteries but only certain kinds of them and not too many. Horror's okay, through a span of several decades there were a lot of good ones like House on haunted Hill, The Blob, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, Nosferatu, Strait-Jacket, Homicidal, The Birds, When a Stranger Calls, Night of the Living Dead, Jaws, etc. However from the early 1990s on, horror as a whole just seems to suck and none of today's horror movies that I've seen are scary at all, the last one that had any potential was Jeepers Creepers.
Westerns...I've only seen a handful of those, at best.
Action, well action is a genre open to interpretation...there are some movies that are undoubtedly action like First Blood, Rush Hour, Double Dragons, Batman, Twin Dragons, Highlander, but then there're movies like The Legend of Billie Jean and Tuff Turf which are put in the action section, but do they qualify?
On the other hand, drama's a good category too, lot of good movies are listed as dramas: Mr. Smith goes to Washington, A Thousand Clowns, Inherit the Wind, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Human Comedy, Hell's Kitchen (1939), 12 Angry Men, Rebel Without a Cause, Footloose, And Justice for All, No Highway in the Sky, The Rains Came, etc.
Then there's science fiction, which like horror, for many decades had great ones but today, just sucks...however it has a good track record: The day the Earth Stood Still, Star Wars, Soylent Green, The Stepford Wives, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Tarantula, Them!, It came from Beneath the Sea, The Thing From Another World, They Came from Outer Space, Invaders from Mars, War of the Worlds, The 27th Day, etc.
And then there's comedy, which like everything else, lacks today but in previous times was great: You Can't Take it With You, Mr. Deeds goes to Town, Harvey, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Holiday, Bringing up Baby, It's a Gift, Harold and Maude, Beetlejuice, The Burbs, The Dream Team, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Overboard, to say nothing of the films by early comedians: Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello, Fatty Arbuckle, Charley Chase, etc.
And then still, there are the musicals. Everybody's got an opinion about them and most are not too flattering, but I like some musicals, The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Calamity Jane, Singin' in the Rain, but I think my favorite is Godspell.
So I guess with me, it's just impossible to pick, they're all good.

Isn't it harder to separate films by genre nowadays? There's so much mish-mashing going on like in music.

My favorite sifi/fantasy was not listed. I do like different kinds of movies, depending who is acting in them.

Drama or romantic comedy for me though I love comedies, too, depending on who is in the movie. Also like some actions and sci-fi, as long as it's not all "shoot 'em up"

Anything that puts me on edge a little rates high in my book. I like supernatural horror mostly -- I'm over slice and dice, it's been done to death and no longer has any impact. I like monster movies too!

Re: What's your favorite film genre?
It's just too tough for me to pick a "favorite" (something that I prefer above everything else) anything. Depends on my mood. There are movies I love in every genre.
