Do you think Penn State was right to fire head coach Joe Paterno for knowing too much, and not doing anything?

Re: The Penn State controversy
I'm not sure. The detail that keeps me from completely blaming him is that in 1998, similar reports surfaced and authorities were notified and nothing came of it.
So armed with that knowledge makes it more justifiable to oneself to do the easy thing and report it to the athletic director rather than heading straight to the police station.
The man who saw the rape with his own eyes in 2002 didn't go to the police either.
Several men did the wrong thing, including the VP for Business and Finance, Schultz. For whatever reason, overseeing campus police is in his job description. When he learned of the incident through the athletic director, he did nothing. Yet he still maintains some sort of post-retirement position within the university. I think the eye witness is still with the school as well. But I am not sure about that.

I really don't have much of a take on it. Considering the travesty that went on, this whole scandal is too amusing to pay much attention to. It's disrespecting what went on to even give it my time.
