Do you think that it is selfish for a couple to continue to try for a child if doctors conclude that they aren't likely to conceive or that a pregnancy poses potential health risks to the mother and/or would-be child?

They can try all they want. I believe in miracle babies.

I don't think it's selfish if the doctor says they aren't likely to conceive, just a little desperate and maybe somewhat misguided, but not selfish. However, if the doctor says that there would be health risks to the would be child, then YES it is selfish and they should probably consider alternative options.

Not selfish at all to keep trying. Doctors aren't always right & miracles happen. If there is a significant health risk they might want to carefully reevaluate the potential risk but it's not selfish.

No. But I hate it when people take fertility drugs.

You don't have to give birth to be a parent, and I think that sometimes people lose sight of alternative ways to have a child in their lives, for want of one biological. Sometimes it just doesn't work out that way, but maybe those people are called to adopt, or just be a parental figure to children in some way and they don't see that because they're busy trying to force it to happen naturally.

I don't think it is selfish, but it is careless if there are real dangers for mom or baby.

If there's a potential health risk involved to any baby the couple conceives, then yeah it is selfish.

It's no more selfish than anything else people do to get what they want. People today live in selfishness, yet we're going to stone a couple for trying to get a kid? I call phony.
