Is this selfish to you?

One of my biggest faults is getting pissed off about things that are none of my business. Here's one of those things...

Last night, my friend's brother posted something on FB that was disturbing to his family and could be a suicide note. Or it could have just been a veiled message indicating he was taking off for a few days to clear his head. Nobody can reach him today. His family is a wreck.

Since they have not found a body, my guess is he just took off for a few days. But it is so selfish. His mom is a wreck and they don't know what to do. I think it is such a terrible thing to do to family. Anybody who just wants to get away for a few days needs to let someone know.

I would think so at least if the person is normally in regular contact with others.

Yeah it's selfish. You should always gives someone a heads up if you're gonna take off. What if something happens while you're gone? No one would know where to look.

Yeah, he could have let somebody know. Makes him look like either he doesn't hold his family in high regard or he's REALLY going through something tough.

With all the posts. It is selfish and he should have let somebody know.

That really stinks that he did that to his family and when he comes back they should let him know...if he ever comes back.

Very selfish. Never not tell anyone where you're going, or leave cryptic messages that are so vague that they could mean anything. If you need to take off to be by yourself for awhile, say that, and when you'll be back. If you're going to kill yourself, then at least preface the message with a 'Goodbye cruel world…'

selfish... my nutty sister once called my mom saying that she didnt know where she was but that she was kidnapped. This was before the internet... but my bro and I were able to track her down anyway... and once she knew that we were coming after her... she changed her tune to--- "I just had to get away from my husband". well fine---get away from your hubby--- but dont tell us your kidnapped! crazy

LOL, real talk....I've thought about doing something like this before....but it wouldn't have benefited me at all. Yeah, it's selfish. I would at least let someone in my life know where I was.

Well, they eventually found him. He hadn't even left the area, but was someplace really random. They tracked cell usage supposedly. I didn't know that was an option without police help. The way I understood it, the police had not done much to that point.

He was very depressed but not suicidal. I guess he is now receptive to getting some help. Hopefully he never does this to his family ever again.

He prob. just did it to get attention. He wanted them to find him.

Yeah, I am guessing at least, in part, it was attention seeking. But it does sound like he's going through some stuff so maybe now this will be the thing that gets him to communicate that.

Glad to hear he's okay, if he is going through something serious, then I hope he gets help in that area too.
