Two arrested after police find 3-year-old boy trapped in bedroom with door nailed shut
Cops kick in door to find toddler amid squalor

Cindy Marie Cantu, 24, and her boyfriend Kyle Erwin Skinner, 23, remain in jail after cops found a 3-year-old boy trapped in her home.


A Georgia mother and her boyfriend are in custody after allegedly locking a 3-year-old boy into a room and nailing the door shut.

Authorities were tipped off when a pregnant woman came to a hospital, claiming her boyfriend had hit her. Police investigating the report had to kick down the bedroom door to reach the little boy, who they found without food, surrounded by filth soiled diaper and suffering from a severe rash.

“The condition of the home presented hazards such as insects, fecal matter, rotting food, soiled diapers, standing water in the shower and general unclean conditions of the home,” warrants stated.

Police arrested Cindy Marie Cantu, 24, on Monday at the Kenestone Hospital in Marietta where she had gone for treatment of injuries she claimed were inflicted by her boyfriend.

Kyle Erwin Skinner, 23, was arrested the next day.

The pair faces charges of cruelty to children and contributing to the delinquency of minors. Skinner faces additional battery and assault charges for allegedly pushing Cantu to the ground and striking her several times, causing bruising and swelling.
