Would you be willing to live next to a cemetary?

I've always wondered what people thought about that. The reason that I'm asking is there's this cemetery along the interstate on the way to work. The cemetery has one of those bigger buildings that houses all of the crypts from floor to ceiling. Right across the fence there are residential homes. Same thing across the street. That would bother me big time.

Think about it. You're having a backyard barbeque and there's this building full of bodies right across the fence. Every time you look out your window, there it is. How could that constant, morbid reminder of death not bother someone?

Would you live in that kind of surrounding?

I've wondered about it because there are houses right across from the cemetery here and I always wonder what's that like to live so close to one?

I have this "thing" (fascination) for cemeteries. In spite of that, no, it wouldn't bother me.

Wouldn't bother me at all. I've lived next to one for 2 years.

my grandparents lived across the street from a cemetary most of my life. When I was little and would spend the night, the bedroom I slept in faced the cemetary. It scared the crap out of me and I would imagine the ghosts rising from the graves and coming after me.

However, it was a very old cemetary and no longer taking new "residents". I think this may have been one reason why family bbqs did not bother us. However, if would have been different if while celebrating July 4th, we had to witness a family in pain burying their loved ones.

When I lived in my apt there was a cemetery around the block but not in direct eye shot. I wouldnt care really.

Sure, if it was nice and the rent was affordable.

I think if it were one of those old cemetaries you see here and there, in the woods, or in other off the beaten track areas, that would be fine. They're so old that no one really goes there on a regular basis other than an occasional history buff or mischevious teens, etc, but if the cemetary were a newer one with lots of activity, burials, etc., I think that would get almost annoying.

I'd rather not.

It wouldn't bother me. The only thing that would make me hesitate is wondering what the resale value would be with the house and how that may hamper having to sell it fast, if need be.
