Do you donate change into the collection cans? And, if so, do you usually do it on your way into the store, or when you leave it?

Re: Salvation Army Bell Ringers
The Salvation Army is a religious group with disparaging opinions of homosexual, so (just as with Catholic Charities) I do not give them anything.
I can find charities that do good work without dissing gays.

Every now and then, I'll drop them a dollar or two when I'm leaving the store.

I always drop a dollar or two, or change, whenever I exit the store. It makes me feel good to do it, and most of the people hired to ring the bells look like they may actually enjoy what they're doing.

Well, there are numerous options out there, that's for sure.

There are. Wonderful things right in our own communities. I think the food banks everywhere are low this time of year & especially with the economy.Bluesmama wrote:Well, there are numerous options out there, that's for sure.

Re: Salvation Army Bell Ringers
I normally don't. I'd rather research a group thoroughly before I start contributing my hard earned dollars to their cause.
They got me the other day, though. I had to go to the mall in and out the same door two days in a row. Every time I did the gentleman ringing the bell greeted me and opened the door for me. I was so touched by his spirit that I came up off a dollar the last time I saw him. I honestly wasn't sure if they might get some type of recognition based on who pulled the most donations, but at the time his heart was in his job, and it inspired me to give. Perhaps I should have given that dollar straight to him LOL.

I sometimes drop spare change or a dollar in but sometimes I try and avoid them. Depends on how i feel.

Re: Salvation Army Bell Ringers
So long as they don't hassle me when I'm going in or coming out, I may throw in a dollar.
