    • Yes
    • No
    • It depends on the restaurant.

Probably depends. I guess you don't want to offend the Chef, he might chase you with his big chopper.

no... its not rude. everyone eats their food their way. the chef is there to provide an excellent meal for you and gets paid to do so. how you choose to eat your steak--- with or without a sauce, is entirely up to you.... so i say eat well and the hell with the chef's feelings lol

If it is then I must be the rudest person on earth! I often want Tabaso, or Jalapeno Tabasco, or Worchestershire, and almost every restaurant carries all those. If it's considered rude to ask for it then they should leave them all on the tables.

A chef who'd be that concerned likely works for a higher-scale place that may not even carry those particular condiments. And . . . I don't eat at those places.

I don't think it is rude at all. But I bet asking for ketchup at a steak house would raise eyebrows.

I don't get why it would be, everyone likes their food differently.

It's rude to deny them. Restaurants who want to stay in business should be offering them so you don't have to ask.

I know that at some more expensive, higher scale restaurants it would be considered poor form, but in general I wouldn't have any issue with it.
