Would you spank your child in public?

You are at a store and your child wants something; after you deny the request, they pitch a fit and begin to scream and cry. Would you spank them right there, or wait until you were out of the store?

Eh, I would be mindful about going in on them cause I know people don't mind their business, but he's getting the business when we get home. If I can wait that long. Might whip their ass in the car.

Ha...ha...ah I was raised better than that and so would my kid.

No, I would never spank a child in public. Too many people out there are too quick to call police.

It depends on how much a scene he's causing. I probably wouldn't spank them, but I would grab the hell out of that arm and make it clear that I wasn't having it.

Nah I'm not one for creating a scene in public, but just as soon as we're in the car you're getting smacked upside the head....and when we get home, you better run....

And that is why there are so many kids that behave so terribly. The government has no right to interfere with how a child is discipline (as long as there isn't any abuse going on).

Totally, though actually there is NO law in this country AGAINST corporal punishment so what's up with that? Seems a lot of pansy parents just taking the easy way out which as we've all had the misfortune of seeing in public does NOT work.

Naw. I would probably be the parent that would stare him down with the "I am not amused" face as he screams and cries. If he doesn't get the point, there's going to be hell to pay when nobody's looking--depending on what side of town I'm on. Might have to drag him to the family bathroom.

If I can at all avoid it, I do. If they're in mid to late toddler stage, a parent should be able to have the words to shut them up. When my girls were smaller and would through tantrums in public, I knew exactly what kind of verbal threats to issue that would quiet the noise. My son is 3 and he's getting to the stage where that's beginning to work on him too.
