| Say you had a nine or ten year who had a higher IQ and was attending public school; the teachers determine that they are smart enough to skip past the middle school phase and go directly to high school. Would you allow them to go to (public) HS, or would you keep them in their proper grade? | |

| They can go to high school. No need to stifle them academically. | |

| It would have to be something he really wanted and we would have to have the option to go back if it wasn't working. | |

| Man as a kid I wished I could skip a grade...but I don't know...now my kids would be homeschooled so I don't know if the schools offer that option to skip...we pretty much did far more advanced stuff in EVERY grade compared to how the public schools did it, and with that in mind I'd like to think there would be something beneficial to learn in every grade. Depending on how fast they could get through a grade I don't know how 'stifling' I'd call it, I graduated at 13. | |

| Some of it would be up to the child. If she wasn't interested then I wouldn't bother. It would also depend on the high school. | |

| Don't know how a 10 year old would get along in a public HS setting. Would consider just putting them in a school for the gifted. | |

| How about neither? If they are truly that gifted and academically ready for high school but not emotionally, I say just homeschool them for high school now! They'll probably end up graduating much more mature than the average public highschool chums anyway. | |
