And if you do, what DO you recycle?

We didn't have a recycling center for about 10 years I guess it was, and our trash REALLY piled up then, we went through a new bag every day, because of all the added tin cans, soda cans, newspapers, plastic jugs...now that we have a center again, we can take all of that down there and cardboard boxes, one thing they don't take I noticed is glass but we don't go through too many glass jars and bottles anymore.

I recycle a lot ~ paper, cardboard, magazines, cans, certain metals, and glass (we have to keep clear from colored separated). All are picked up at curbside. Yard debris, too.

I recycle drink cans this way. I absolutely despise taking cans back to the store. I've thought posting on Craig's List to find out if there's a person who goes door to door to collect cans and bottles.

I remember as a kid before the old recycling center closed, I said to my mom 'wouldn't it be great if you just had to put the stuff outside and a truck picked it up like the trash?', and she said 'but they DON'T do that'. And they still don't, we have to pack it all in the car and drive it to the center.

I sorta recycle. I live in an apt complex that has one big recycling dumpster and one trash dumpster. But all recyclables go in the one.

I had dated a guy in CT that had his garage filled with soda cans and once every few weeks, he and his kids would go to a store that had these machines that accepted the cans. In CT you pay 5 cents deposit on the cans, but if you take it to these machines, you get the 5 cents back. A ticket prints out of the machine with the total you should receive for the amount of cans you inserted, then you take the receipt to customer service and get the refund. This guy would make hundreds of dollars... he actually paid his electric bill one month. Everyone there was doin this, it was like walking into a big laundromat but instead of washers, the walls were lined with recycling machines. There were at least 20 machines there and we always had to wait in line to use one.

After seeing that I start to believe that every state should do that just to promote the recycling.

Man if they'd do that here we could make a small fortune off all the soda cans we go through.

well... keep in mind that you pay an extra 5 cents when you buy the soda... so you are only getting it back. But yeah... it was really an incentive to recycle

Lets see, if I bike across town to shop and forget something, having to go back, would that be considered Re-cycling? blank stare @ you

They put recycle bins in apartments. The residential homes had recycle crates but apartments just had the trash. This in a city that has many apartment buildings.

So now we put glass, plastic, paper, cardboard into the recycle bin.

Yeah, we recycle. We used to save our cans then take them to the junk yard that pays for the alum. But with this last amount, we are just putting them into the recycling bin from now on. We just don't have the space to keep them.

But we do recycle everything we can.

Plastic, glass & cans. We have to take cardboard to a specific place ourselves.

I used to be into it in the 90's when the "recycle, reduce, reuse" concept took flight. Then I got to college and it was difficult to do because there weren't many recycling facilities on campus at the time. Once I took Economics I really stopped giving a hoot.

Now that I'm back home, I still don't give a hoot. But my people bother me so much about it that I do it just so they won't dig in the garbage to rescue a glass container or something.
