As far as I'm concerned, the best SNL casts were the Dana Carvey, Phil Hartman, Victoria Jackson, Mike Meyes, Kevin Nealon, Ellen Cleghorne, Tim Meadows years. Everything after 1993/1994 has been largely a miss.

The '86-'93 seasons were the best, I agree... the best ensemble cast. It all went to hell during the Will Ferrell / Cheri Oteri / Norm MacDonald years. SNL never recovered from it. Today the show has no personality at all and Seth Meyers is awful with Weekend Update.

I have to agree that the late 80's to mid 90's were volumes better than what followed. I really wonder if the younger kids watch today as I did back in the day? It was huge for us, but my peers and I did not have cable, had no where to go on a Saturday night, so we lived for some Farley and Spade on Saturday night.
