Love Roseanne. I'm sitting here watching it on TV Land now.

One of my FAVORITE shows. I've been watching it for about 10 years.

One of my favorite shows, although it started to lose something that season Becky eloped and David moved in. I can watch a marathon of seasons 1-5 episodes.

I liked the show well enough, but it wasn't "Can't miss" to me. Since there seem to be a few fans here, I am wondering...what did you guys think of when they got all that money and how that season went, even though it ended up being a dream, right?

I really think the show shot itself in the foot with that one. As a result, they had to come up with that poor twist ending that made next to no sense, and virtually killed any chance of a reunion.

I liked the whole 'we won the lottery' thing because even if at the end it wasn't real, it was the first, and maybe the only show to do that. To have the family you've been watching for 10 years win the biggest jackpot in the state. I like the 9th season very much, I like that Nancy found a spiritual strength inside her, I like that Bev finally broke loose and accepted her life in a way she could enjoy things, I liked Nana Mary's dialogue in her last episode, and I like that in the last episodes, even though it wasn't real at the end, that for the moment, the family was going to stay together. I liked what Darlene and David were talking about with the baby being raised in the same house with her grandparents and how it was a 'tribal' thing. Now it seems to me the FIRST season had a lot of stinker episodes in it, but nobody ever talks about that. The first season doesn't even have the excuse OF it was just a dream, just Roseanne's imagination, just a lot of hit or miss there and there were several misses.

Thanks for the replies. I always wanted to ask real fans what they thought of that.
When it came to the series finale, I think the show knew they screwed up with that whole lottery idiocy and tried to come up with a clever way of undoing it....but they just made it worse. I didn't so much mind that the whole series turned out to be Roseanne writing her memoir, but I despised how they changed around the character backstories. Made me feel like I had been lied to all those years watching it.

Marc, that is an interesting take on all that. Thanks for posting.

I liked Roseanne when it was about the struggle to work, pay bills and raise three kids. Early on, there were episodes about coming home from work dog tired, and still having to cook, going to the mall, dealing with first dates, etc. When the show started becoming less about the immediate family, and more about the outsiders, family business (bike shops and restaurants), bosses, next door neighbors, daughters boyfriends, etc. is when I started losing interest.
I liked the original Becky…during her original stint…the best. However, when she came back after having been gone those few years, it was awful. She was like a zombie. I preferred SC's recast Becky over LG's second stint.

So do I.
LG's second stint as Becky was so weird, and IMO she didn't mesh with the show like she did before. I got a kick out of watching SC come in that season and sub for her when she would miss episodes, because out of no where Becky would grow two inches and her hair was suddenly longer.

I have a question for Roseanne fans: Do you think Dan and Roseanne were right to make DJ kiss the [black] girl in his school play?

Absolutely. They couldn't let him get away with that kind of bigotry.

Oh hell yes, the only reason he WANTED the role was because of the kissing scene, you can't opt out of it just because you don't get to kiss the girl you want.

One moment in Roseanne that I really liked, was in the 2 parter where Fisher beat up Jackie so Dan went over and beat the hell out of Fisher. That was good, and I also liked it when Roseanne confronted Fisher and told him if he beat Jackie again, he'd have to deal with her 'and I am WAY more dangerous than Dan. I own a loose meat restaurant, I KNOW what to do with the body'. I love that moment, everybody should be so lucky to have a sister that protective.

One episode that probably everybody here who has seen Roseanne will remember, is the one where Darlene's baby is born prematurely and nobody knows if she will live or die. That was a very sad episode and for a long time that song at the end always had me like that: and my mom never liked that one. She was never really big on Roseanne as it was but she didn't like that one, for a long time she thought that the baby did die.
