Do you vote straight down the party lines, or do you vote according to the candidates?

Re: how do you vote?
I have voted many ways. I am non-party, although I'm thinking of changing that because I want some say in the primaries.

I vote a split ticket sometimes. Usually it will be dem/independent. No republican.

When they were on the ballot I have voted Socialist and Communist. They never have a chance of winning, but I like to show there is discord out here.

Re: how do you vote?
You would laugh if you saw a ballot here in Canada. Having voted in California I understand about long ballots, so I was stunned when I was able to vote here. You get a small piece of paper with 3 or 4 names with each persons party beside their name. You vote for one, fold the paper up and place it in the ballot box. Once I got 3 ballots, each had one question sort of like the propositions on the California ballot.Beside it a yes or no. Check the box you want fold it up and into the box.
Here we do not vote directly for the Prime Minister (this is a truly representative form of voting), we vote for the member of parliament of our choice. I vote either NDP or Liberal then which ever parties leader gets the most Members of Parliament becomes the Prime Minister. This last election proved to make a lot of us shake our heads in wonder, the Prime Minister got a majority with less than 40% of the vote. There must be a better way than either the US method or the Canadian method. Just no one has figured it out yet.

Re: how do you vote?
I vote for the candidate. It's usually straight down the party line though, cause I vote 99.99% Democrat. If there is a Democrat candidate that I'm not familiar with, then I will leave it blank.

Re: how do you vote?
I usually vote in a booth that has curtains to pull shut behind me and then I connect the line to the arrow head.
I will also SPLIT the ballot and vote for the person I support and believe will do a better job--but what the hell--they are all the same bunch of SOBs...

Mostly this but I've been known to vote for someone as a write-in too.
