This question goes out to those who are religious; would you vote for a politician who was an avowed atheist?

I wouldn't have a problem doing so. We see the skeletons in the closets of too many of our God fearing Christian politicians!

Re: Would you vote for an Atheist?
I'm a Christian, but one with a sense of humor and just came from a 5 year stint in the forums at Nine Inch Nails--that place can be about as politically incorrect/heated as you can get, and while it seems like an oxymoron for a Christian to be in such a forum, it gave me a real eye for a lot of different personality types, aetheists and other.
As far as voting for an Aetheist, that's of no consequence to me. The older I get, the more Republican I seem to become, but I would vote for anyone who I thought would attend to the issues at hand and get the job done, regardless of their religious views. Exception being, if that person pushed their agenda based on their beliefs and had a mind to "convert" everyone else to their viewpoints--then they would not get my vote.
I, myself, prefer to have God in my corner, but I know not everyone does, but as long as they can draw a line of distinction between their personal views and what is needed to do their job, then that's what's most important.

I'll vote for anyone who has their social and economic politics in order. I really don't care what their spiritual beliefs are.

Re: Would you vote for an Atheist?
They'd have to be of similar politics to those I would regularly vote for. I do know 1 atheist who fits that bill. So if it was her or some so-called religious person like Bill Clinton or Barack Obama, sure, I'd vote for them.

Re: Would you vote for an Atheist?
No problem at all. It was absurd when people were wringing their hands over whether Obama is a christian or muslim. Religion has no place in government at all. There were no arks or child brides in the Constitution, which is what they pledge to uphold. That's what I want them to do.

Re: Would you vote for an Atheist?
If they had a good, solid platform and I thought they'd do a good job, I wouldn't have a problem voting for them.
