Oh, I was so embarrassed. The return line was SO long. I waited for 20 minutes. I had a sweatshirt to return. I bought it and I had the gift receipt (it was for my step daughter) and the original one. Before I went to Kohls, I looked at the original receipt and it said the shirt was $24. I used the gift receipt with her and it came up to $17. So I said politely, "On my original receipt, it was $24." Then I got it out.
It was totally me being a dumb ass because I had a 30% off coupon when I bought it so it was really $17. I just forgot. So I politely told her that I just forgot I had the coupon and didn't notice the deduction on the original receipt.
So, she says so loudly that she wasn't trying to give me back the wrong amount. She grabbed a piece of scrap paper and started to subtract or add or something. She was so instantly pissed I didn't even pay close attention to what she was doing. I was so embarrassed. The line was so long, so this was happening in front of a lot of people. After she did her math she handed me the paper and told me to figure out what 30% of $24 is. I told her again it was my mistake. She then went on for about 30 seconds about making sure I knew I was getting the right amount back. She wasn't talking, she was yelling.
Ya, I know this is a shit time for retail workers and she probably had rude customers all morning, but I was so mad and embarrassed. She was really hostile.
