I had a big wedding the first time, and had told my bf if i were to do it again, i would go thru the vegas chapel drive thru window and just get it over with.

What size wedding did you have/would you have?

I've done both. Had the wedding with the church & the dress & bigass cake & all that craptastic garbage & the second one just at the apartment we were living in at the time. First one went ridiculously south. It's nice to have family & friends around but some people just turn it into a personal spectacle & put more focus on the wedding than the marriage. You should do what you can comfortably afford. But it's not a reason to go deep into debt before the thing even gets started. Truth is it's just a ceremony.

I had a big wedding and if I could do it over, I would've just eloped on a beach somewhere and told everyone about it afterwards (and I also would've not gotten married at 23 years old. ..) . Too many hands in the pot and everyone trying to make it their day and what they want, instead of backing off and letting the bride and groom do it to their liking.

My mother was even upset with me because I didn't take her gown shopping with me. I saw what I wanted in a magazine, went to the bridal shop alone and luckily they had a sample of it there, so I tried it on, ordered it and done. I didn't try on hundreds of gowns and hem and haw about it, but apparently my mother thought that was what I was supposed to do. Oh well.

First wedding was in Reno. Second wedding was in Vegas.

Never had a big wedding and, oddly enough, never really wanted one. And I have to admit, I have never missed or regretted it.

Very small, we both came from very poor families and it would never have even entered our heads to have a large wedding. It's lasted 54 and a half years so I guess one doesn't need a big fancy wedding. Just look at the Kim Kardashian nuptials.
