Seriously.

Matthew has been useless for at least a year now and when he emerged from his coma-death, he didn't awake with a newfound attitude or appreciation for life. He's the same miserable little shit he was before. What was the point of having him wake up? What good is he alive?

I think the story would have been better if his death had been permanent.
