Killing in the name of Atheism

Can you believe that this is likely to happen?

It wouldn't be "in the name of atheism" as much as it would be simple the typical "we're going to kill anybody who doesn't agree with us" philosophy, which not only do I believe can happen, but has happened for ages. Atheists are no different than religious people in terms of wanting to be rid of dissenters. So while they may not kill "in the name of atheism," they'll still kill religious people for being different. When you kill "in the name of" something, anything, it's really just a mask for the same ole hated motives. Atheists who think abolishing religion would lead to any less violence, even just a small amount, are living a naive dream.

Seems people are only bent on killing to prove themselves right. Have yet to meet an atheist who felt the need to use force or any kind to convince others.

^^^^Ah, but history has. I've also seen comments from several who are every bit as radical as Christians. I can also say I've never met a Christian who feels the need to use force to convince others. Atheist is just as much out to squash Christianity and it will do so by any means necessary. Religion is an excuse used to justify the desire to kill. Money is another. Territory is another. I don't see anybody forsaking their properties or all material wealth just because wars have been fought over them. Religion doesn't cause wars. People choose to start them because people tend to have a natural desire to eliminate anything they don't like. If the excuse were not religion, it WOULD be something else, without any doubt. Atheists have attacked religious people because of their religion. They are just as capable of their own brand of bigotry and intolerance. Frankly, the very fact that we got people so set on vilifying religion as some war-mongering entity that must be destroyed is exactly the kind of propaganda that is used to justify wars. Until people realize the TRUE cause of wars, and it is NOT religion, it won't matter whether people profess to be Christian, Muslim, Agnostic, Atheist, or whatever; wars will still be fought and there will always be some excuse forwarded. That's because the excuse is not the cause; it's the smokescreen.

People can argue all they want about whether or not religion is the basis for wars. Remove religion and there would still be "turf wars" just as ugly, if not worse.

I think that would be a new one, or at least new for this century, but I'm not ruling it out. People have killed over crazy stuff before, money being a large determining factor in a lot of them.
