At 10 after 3 this morning, our whole block went black, and I don't know when it came back on but when I woke up this morning at 8, everything was back to normal. We only got half an inch of snow and if that happened with that, if we do get the 8 inches today, I don't want to think about that.

This is one of the biggest things I hate about snow/ice storms ~ loss of power. When we need it most, y'know?

Maybe there was a car accident that knocked out power? Or are you sure it was weather related?

Since we moved here to North CArolina, we have lost power once for more than 1 hour. I do NOT miss those days during the Michigan winters when we would lose power for 2 or more hours. We lost power even in the summer from overload surges.
Why she wants to go back north is a mystery to me. All it does in MIchigan is snow and when that ends it starts to rain. Just one nasty precipitation cycle.
