One of my bike routes coming back from the movies is thru Bayshore Drive, which is waterfront property and very expensive. I've been down it so many times that it has lost its tourist value. There is a mix of traditional Mediterranean style architecture that makes me think of Roman aristocracy estates. But there are also some very modern style estates along the way.

Yes! But affluent neighborhoods do not make me yearn to join them. Not for me.
Sometimes I just like "different". When we went to New Orleans last time we took a road trip around the North Shore and ended up driving along the waterfront neighborhoods in Slidell, where all those very nice houses stand on HIGH stilts.

Sometimes...when I feel like going for a drive, I'll cruise around somewhere. There a places in NY that would make Beverly Hills look like the projects.

We travel to the nicer neighborhoods all the time (except winter) to garage sales. Do you know they have pretty much the same stuff as poorer neighborhoods, and they aren't necessarily any cleaner.

I don't really intentionally drive through the affluent neighborhoods. I often do on my way to somewhere and it is fun to think about having a million dollar home. But that will always be a dream!
