I have a bunch of them that I store various junk on as backup. (in addition to my external hard drive). I actually carry all of them in my bag to work each day, in case my apt burns down and have a core of three that I carry on trips so I can access any foto or document I own.

I used to store stuff on discs but those fill up too fast and are not all that easy to access, so I went with the multi-gig thumb drives. BTW, the can fail and all info on them lost, so don't make that a primary source - backup ur pix & stuff.

Took me a while but I finally got the point that the world was no longer hard disk friendly.

(Sidenote.....if I find a FLOPPY disk somewhere I would probably poke a hole in it, put it on a chain and wear it as a necklace like folks are doing now with cassettes LOL)

I am currently traveling with 5 of them on a lanyard. I have yet to figure out an acceptable means of labeling each--they are so small and do not have the space like a CD-rom to write on.

I got a lot of 1-gig thumb drives on sale, but have to limit the subject of each. I carry them in a zip lock baggie and attached ribbons where I wrote the subject of each one. The unlabeled 4-gig red one is my collection of Web porn. Blue Cool

And at that, a lightbulb went off in FireIce's head...

"Why didn't I think of that?" she asked herself.

I have a couple of external hard drives, one is 500gb and one is a Terabyte which stores a wealth of information. Only problem with these drives is what happens if it crashes after you have everything backed up to it? I still prefer to keep my back ups on DVD the chances of it crashing are pretty slim.
