Not all of them have medical reasons for weight gain - just poor nutrition practices - which I see at the fast food restaurants that they frequent.
You're forgiven. Often people see an overweight person and think they are that way because the over eat or are too lazy to move. Part of it, aside from those you see at the fast food restaurants (hey, what are

) I think is due to Media images. We are told by quacks like Dr Oz who make a fortune on touting diets and various methods to lose weight based on the idea that it is always the person's "fault."
The important thing according to my doctors, is that the vitals are okay: heart rate, blood pressure, cholesterol etc.
