I do, though not because I actually think I'm going to be in a crash (I know I know, nobody does and that's the point), but because I ain't getting no damn ticket. | |

| I always wear my seat belt and I didn't need a law to make me. The law here started out as a secondary law meaning you could only get a ticket for it if you were pulled over for something else to begin with but became a primary offense despite original promises by the state to the contrary. | |

| Just really do not see a need. I generally drape it over my shoulder to avoid the stupid ticket. I really despise laws that force me to do something for my own good...whenever the governement starts telling the people it's for your own good--there has to be something wrong with it.. | |

| I buckle up every time I get into a vehicle - and not because it is the law.
Years ago, my redneck father in rural Mississippi was driving me down a country road in his pickup and noticed me digging into the seat to retrieve the unused seat belt. He said it wasn't a law to use seat belts in Mississippi. I told him it was the law of physics why I wore the seat belt. (I didn't mention the fact that I was passenger with an old man with a pacemaker who could black out with no warning)
IDK, do ppl not understand inertia? The vehicle stops abruptly, you keep moving forward - thru the windshield and onto the pavement or splatted onto whatever stopped your vehicle. I mean, we are talking forces that have left dead ppl on the highway and their laced shoes still on the floorboard. | |

When I was younger, I used to be more lax about wearing a seat belt and would get in my car and drive off without having it on, but I've long since become diligent about it. | |

And as far back as my memory goes, I never sat in a carseat either, though I'm sure I had one when I was a little baby, but sure as hell NOT at 4 years old, 6 years old, 8 years old, to hell with that. | |
