Go Ask Alice by Anonymous

Has anybody read this book? For a few years I've heard about how it's been banned or challenged because of the heavy drug contents and of course about the ongoing debate was it really written by a 15 year old addict or not? I'm still trying to figure out how ANYBODY could have sold the editors on making it an anonymous book, but I suppose if they bought it was a true story they'd agree to that. Anyway, I found a copy and have started reading it, but does anybody else have an opinion on it?

It wasn't really a "diary". It was probably written by a woman named Beatrice Sparks although it's believed there may have been several contributors. "Go Ask Alice" was more of a cautionary tale. There were probably several girls whose lives were reflected in the story but there was no diary of a now dead girl. It was just a story told in first person narrative.

I read that book years ago, I remember very little about it other than it was in Diary format. There was also a movie made based on the book.

It was on one night late on TBS I think about 10 years ago. I have never seen it on tv since then.

I read it when my kids were in high school, if I remember correctly it was a very strong anti drugs book.
