I don't recall the name, but in Cancun, we went to a bar playing mostly heavy metal and had more locals than tourists. It was so cool. Even then, I wasn't into metal bars, but this place rocked.

Richard's Lounge in Lakewood, NJ. As soon as I saw a drink called a Chronosynclastic Infundibulum on the menu, I knew I was home.

The Abbey on Decatur Street in the French Quarter, New Orleans. It is still there and a dive now, but in the early '70s when it opened it was next door to the HEAD Clinic where I worked/lived and all my friends would go there. Plus our friend Katrina was one of the barkeeps. So it was almost our living room at the time.

There are a few. Tao is cool, Klassique in the Bronx is nice too. Reggae all day. I like the Lux Lounge in DC too.
