I'm sure everyone has heard that Ravi was convicted of all counts against him, and is looking at ten years in prison and possible deportment. Many think that that punishment is too severe and that he shouldn't have to serve more than a year or two. What do you think?

Eh, it's probably a bit more severe than he deserves. It's a biased media pressure result. No sympathy for the bully but I honestly don't think stopping bullying is a goal in this entire thing at all.

No. Ten years is ridiculous because Tyler Clementi needs to shoulder some responsibility for his own suicide. He jumped off that bridge on his own accord. No one pushed him. No one told him to do it.

He should get what ever the law allows, then deportation when his sentence is served. Really why allow that sort of person to stay in the country that he helped mess up? I see what he did as a form of bullying.

He wasn't charged in connection with Tyler Clementi's suicide. Would he have been charged at all if T.C. hadn't killed himself? Good chance he wouldn't have been.

I don't even think it warrants a prison sentence...or rather not a lengthy one. 6 months at best. If you ask me, he should be fined into the poor house and have community service to hell and back. Seems they're trying to make a political "example" out of this kid.

I do think it's worth a prison sentence, although probably not 10 years. I think 2 years would be appropriate considering that he didn't seem to have any remorse about what he did and tried to cover up his involvement.

But how is it "political" exactly? What role does politics play in Clementi's death or Ravi's conviction?

Ten years is very harsh, and I do agree that - with the public and media watching, in amongst the 'It Gets Better'/anti-bullying movement - they are trying to make an example out of this boy. A prison sentence is warranted, but it should be reduced to one or two years, pending how clean his record is and how willing he is to cooperate with any other terms.

(Altho they always deny using sentences to make an example)

10 yrs might be too harsh but that creep should be in the clink AT LEAST 2-5. They will enjoy his little skinny ass in there alot Im sure.

I think 10 years is too much. I would give him 1-3 years.
