At the risk of sounding old fashioned, why do lots of people, not just the young, act totally oblivious to the feelings and needs of others? It's all about Number One. One example is I sometimes see drivers in parking lots zoom in front of disabled, pregnant and or elderly people even in the worst weather.

Discourtesy is rampant among cell phone users, many drivers and others who disregard safety (and laws about yielding to pedestrians) as well as courtesy.

I"m not referring to outmoded, old fashioned customs, just the golden rule treat others the way you'd like to be treated.

Ugh, you are so right. My biggest beef has been people don't say "Thank You" anymore.

Common courtesy is totally out the window and it is sad and disappointing.

When I was a kid, we were out driving and there was this old woman slowly trying to cross the street in St. Louis. My stepfather stopped the car, got out and assisted her. IDK if anyone was behind us but no one honked their horn.

I remember this incident to this day - I suppose it is memorable and perhaps a relic of a different era.

I wonder if any kids today will ever retain such a memory - or if they will just learn to honk and yell at the slow-ass old ppl.

Common courtesy, like common sense, has become uncommon.
