    Parental controls Empty Parental controls

When you were a child, did your parents ever enact parental controls on things like cable, and whatnot? If you have any children, do you do so? If you don't, would you?

Na, as kids they just told us what we weren't allowed to watch and (for the most part) we listened.

When I was a kid, there was no cable, no satellite TV - not even VCR. Parental Control was done by the FCC for all ages and all of TV and movies were PG rated.

No when I was a kid my parents didn't use any kind of locks and codes for the cable. They just didn't subscribe to any of the adult channels. I don't know if I'd use them with my daughter, since it's not like I subscribe to any of the spice networks either, so I don't see it being an issue. I'm not going to block out network TV or basic cable. It's not that serious.

It's probably different depending on the area or the company, but here getting those channels is the click of one button unless you block them.

Parental controls feels like something OVER-PROTECTIVE parents partake in. I would do that if my child gave me reason to think they couldn't be trusted otherwise.
