Once in the service I played at being an alcoholic and took a swig of rum in the morning. Later threw up and decided just to drink booze in the second half of the day and coffee the first half.

I did once after a party I threw. Somebody left a bottle of Absolut Vanilla Vodka and I went ahead guzzled it.

In the past yes, the quickest/best way to cure a hangover was to slam a drink in the morning. I haven't done that in about 10 years though.
More recently, I have had mimosas in the am with breakfast. I've done that a few times.
Once I did go to "Tequila Sunrise", which is held during our university's homecoming I believe. Bars opened at 5 am and a lot of people get up and start partying. Like I said, I did this once and only once, I got to the bars about 7, and was pretty drunk by noon, came home and passed out. It did feel weird and won't be doing it again.
