| Think back, centuries ago, when you were still as pure as snow; was your virginity something you were ever proud of? Do you think it's something that people should be proud of today? | |

| "It is better to copulate than never."
People can take pride in whatever they want although perhaps some shouldn't be so proud if it's a case of no one wants to fuck them in the first place. I wouldn't ridicule anyone if that's their choice but I don't see it as that admirable either. "The second most preposterous notion is that copulation is inherently sinful."

| I lost mine at such an early age I never had time to really think about it. Yah I think its something to be proud of if you have held on to it for awhile. | |

| I lost mine at 14....I didn't have it long enough to be "proud" of it. If that's what you want, then by all means....have at it and be proud of it. Nothing wrong with being a virgin. Unless you're past 30...... | |

| Still have it and am very proud of it. I think keeping it as a choice is something to be very proud of. Why shouldn't it be something to be proud of? Kind of seems like asking if somebody can avoid getting addicted to coffee or alcohol cause they never drank it (or never eating all of those foods that are killing us lol) if it's something to be proud of. lol It's definitely something to be proud of. (And since most lose it so early, they'll never know.) | |

| It's nothing to be especially proud of because there's nothing wrong with sex. | |

Don't worry, NY. I'm sure your later lovers didn't care if they didn't get your cherry. As long as they could play with the box it came in.

| One of the things about being in the sexual revolution is that I have never encountered a virgin girl. Luckily, someone else took care of that bloody mess for me.
It is an ancient, anachronistic notion that puts special relevance to virginity (and only for females)
Most guys I know actively tried to end their inexperience and if they were yet to have sex would not admit to it. I was 19 and made a special trip to Mexico and paid a professional to give me my first experience.

| Why would anybody be proud to be a virgin? It's not that serious to me. You either have sex or you don't, it's not that much of an "accomplishment" worth boasting about either way. | |

| I think young people should be proud of it. It's such a casual thing today that I suspect most don't have genuine feelings for the first person they slept with. | |

| I started fucking around too early to ponder whether or not it was something to be proud of. Meh. Whatever. Unless you have gorgeous people offering you sex on a regular basis, I don't know how "proud" I'd be of a commitment to abstain. | |

| I was until I realized I was proud of it for the wrong reasons.
I used to think it made me better than other chicks, but at the same time I was very immature and naive. When I got older I realized that being a virgin didn't mean I had an edge on the competition. It just meant I was a virgin.

| Funny how "prolonged" is most often associated with something unpleasant. | |

| If someone wants to prolong their virginity, it's their choice, but I don't agree with it.
I don't believe in "saving" oneself for marriage or that "right" person. I think it's a shame some people have been indoctrinated into thinking that sex is such a bad thing that it could only be done if you're married. Everyone is not sexually compatible and I believe you need to test the waters.
Anyway, sex is the one of the most natural acts in the world, why would on deprive themselves? I'm not saying screw everyone, but have fun with someone that you like and hey, even if you don't like them, there nothing wrong with a little carnal pleasure.
I agree that when someone virginal gives in, they are going to wonder why they wasted so much time.

| Past a certain age, I begin to wonder if "prolonged" virginity is more a circumstance than choice. Personally I haven't known many virgins aged 20+ who were untouched solely because of conviction... | |
