How long can you stand to be cooped up in your house alone, with no company, calls or communication with anyone? Could you go a week or more in basic solitude?

I lived alone in a cabin in the woods for a few weeks, with occasional hitch-hiking to the store. You end up talking to the mouse living with you and other animals around.
There are days now that I get rained in on a weekend. One or two days is about my limit in this one room before I wrap plastic on myself and ride in the rain.

After a couple days, I get lonely. If I did a whole week without leaving the house, I would for sure need to go online.

Re: How long can you stand solitude?
I don't drive and my husband worked away from home in a mining camp way up north. I was often totally alone 2 weeks at a time. I learned to entertain myself with the computer, books and TV.
My uncle often worked away from home for FEMA, he also had a much younger wife. She wasn't ever totally alone but she figured if he died and she was alone it would seem like he was just away working. It was a totally different thing when he did die. She was inconsolable.
