No name tags, thankfully. I lose those things.

I had one, dunno what happened to it. I guess it doesn't matter whether or not we wear one.

Off topic, but Cheaps do you work at the front desk of a hotel? I thought you mentioned it before. If so I have a quick question.

No I don't work with the public on a face to face basis, so there's no need for one…I do, however, have to state my name when I answer the phone. Basically the same thing.

Then I gotta bug you with a question if you don't mind. Is it somewhat common for people to request a room change for what may be considered a superficial reason?
I ask because the place we stayed at Friday (and have stayed at before) has an interesting layout. I never realized there was this whole other row of rooms that actually have an outside hall that faces the back of one of the buildings. So, anyway, I paid the same price for the two rooms and the one my dad and son got was the same as what we have had there before. Then we went into ours and it was down this creepy hall that was so close to the other building you could touch the windows. At first I thought, since we were not there for a pleasure trip, I wouldn't say anything. But then the more I thought about it, I decided to ask for a change if one was possible. The rooms were the same price and ours was small and creepy!
She granted us a change but I am really curious if that is common with hotels or if I maybe looked like a little diva.

Your no diva It's very common. And It's really not a problem with us providing that request. All it takes is just a couple quick key strokes, and the guests are pleased.

Thanks Cheaps! Glad to know she was most likely not rolling her eyes at me when I left! She seemed very sweet.

Re: Do you wear a name tag at work?
I wear a foto ID badge as required by company policy but I'm one of the few who follows policy. Guess my military conditioning makes me see the logic in identifying ppl in the facility.
AFTER an intruder is discovering walking amongst us unnoticed, then the directors push for everyone to follow the policy. That is how things fall apart and bad things happen - and closing the barn door after the horse has run off doesn't always correct it.

Re: Do you wear a name tag at work?
i wear a photo id badge that electronically allows me into the turnstyle gate to get in and OUT of the building--- why the hell would they want to TRAP us in there??? i dont know. but what makes me laugh even more is that they send these auditing teams from "regional" to come in and check to make sure that we are wearing them. the problem is that often THEY are not displaying their badges. We are LEGALLY obligated to stop and detain any suspicious or unknown person in a federal building not wearing ID. So they send people in our building---- that we DONT know.... not wearing ID.... to check that WE are wearing ID---- when we have all known eachother for decades, and would attack anyone we dont know---- and trust me... some of those non badge wearers have been tackled!!!!

Security to try and prevent any unauthorized person from taking something out. Your building may be a total code violation but technically you shouldn't be trapped in the building although I recall you telling us about some shenanigans management was doing with emergency egress. We're doing something very similar for a client that manufactures credit cards. They want to control access of people getting in but also leaving. You should be able to get out automatically regardless in an emergency such as in a fire or when the building loses power.

Yes, my last name is stenciled on my Airman's Battle Uniform, and I have a name tag that I wear on my service "blues" and dress blues.
