You can always tell a shoe store with commission employees. Normally I avoid them. Today my son and I went to every shoe store in the mall as he was seeking shoes. The last one we stopped in had this girl who was using such shoddy tactics to entice us to buy the shoes he wanted but were very expensive.
Looking at the shoes he had on, she said to him, "If you get these I am sure you will take much better care of them than you did those, right?" Well that pissed me off because he has had these shoes all school year. Yeah, they are worn out but he is an active kid. So I let her know I actually was not upset at the current condition of his shoes.
Then she actually asked if he was an only child! Upon finding out he only has an adult sister, she said people with only children can spend more money on shoes due to only having one to buy for!
She asked me if he was picky. I think there is a difference between picky and selective. For example yesterday when he had to wear a "bit too small" dress shirt you would have thought I asked him to wear a straight jacket. That was being picky. Taking time and trying on many shoes he is actually buying with his own money is being selective. Plus, he only asked her to check on two styles for him. It was her choice to bring him other options to try on.
