If you've ever been on a diet or diets, did you reach your goal and how long did it take?

I tried the Atkins diet once....all it did was make me constipated and gave me a headache. So no, I didn't reach my goal.

I've been on numerous diets. My weight fluctuates from me being super skinny to, well...fat. The thing is while I can gain weight really quick, I can lose it quick too. I can lose 20 lbs. in a month just by doing cardio @ the gym and limiting my meals.

Diets are nothing but a mental psyche out, destined to ultimately fail sooner or later. If you want to lose weight, continue eating the foods you enjoy (in moderation, recognize when to say "when") and then work out. The pounds will fall like a cliff-diver.

I agree with this. Mentally your mind is likely to rebel against the concept of a diet (restriction), which can and most likely result in failure.

You can't spell "diet" without d-i-e. Push yourself away from the table (resistance training) and go for a walk (cardio)

If you tell yourself "I won't be fat", then you won't. Most of the time people are overweight because they are inactive and fill idle time with food. Staying thin is all about activity. If you have other things to do, then you won't be so bored that food becomes a way to occupy boredom.

I have not. Last Oct., I began working out and love it so much.

I have friends who do the Atkins thing, and then as soon as they re-intro carbs, they gain it all back right away.
