It's the marketplace where a lot of dubious or useless stuff is sold. As long as it it not dangerous (supposedly the gov is watching out for that) then it should not be banned. Let the buyer beware. Also, there are hungre lawyers also advertising on TV who will give grief to any diet that harms someone.
However, I have developed my own basic diet plan: "Eat Less - Exercise More" that seems to work and I don't have to buy anything except low fat food.
